With true bed and breakfast you stay in rooms within the private house of a London family. The line between bed and breakfast and small hotels can be blurred, and many websites give lists of hotels rather what we would consider to be a true bed and breakfast, where the host offers only one or two rooms out and can offer personal attention to guests. Bed and Breakfast can be a good formula for getting to live like real Londoners and getting to know your host, and it can be cheaper than staying in a hotel of equivalent quality. On the other hand it is harder to check beforehand what you are getting for your money – only use those agencies that show you the room you are booking on their website (like those listed below). We recommend that you always check if rate is given for one person or per room.
We love it!:
onefinestay: top range 'unhotel' concept with personalised flats and houses and 5stars services.
Uptown reservation:This long established agency only offers host homes that are in the very central areas of London, defined as within Zone 1 on the tube map, which means that all the homes have:
excellent transport links to the main attractions, historic sights, theatres, galleries and museums;
the homes and their hosts have been carefully chosen by the agency's owner Mrs Monica Barrington, taking into account their quality, location and warmth of welcome;
and these standards are reviewed at regular intervals.
