UK plugs are different to those used in most other parts of the world (except if you are coming from Malaysia, Singapore, Cyprus or Ireland). Before you go, try to get a plug adaptor for any electrical appliances you may want to operate. Electricity is supplied at 240V, slightly higher than that in Europe (220V) but nearly all European equipment will work in the UK with the right plug adaptor. However equipment designed for the US 110V supply may not work − check your equipment's specification (however note that laptop computers and other equipment powered by AC/DC adaptors will work fine, provided you have the correct plug adaptor).
