Why this guide?

The idea for this guide came after we had spent several hours surfing the net and looking through guidebooks to prepare a holiday.  We could not find a single source of information that covered everything. Even the best guidebooks were at least partly out of date, and contained only limited descriptions of important things like hotels and restaurants.

The web had much more up to date information, and lots of visual material, but it was very time-consuming finding or typing the right links. Type in the name of a hotel and you always got two pages of sites offering travel and reservation services. General information services provided free by public bodies like the UK tourist board could be quite good but were not always updated. General information and booking services provided by private companies were heavily sponsored and devoted lots of space to advertisements.  We wondered about how independent their advice might be.

So we set about producing our own on-line travel guide for London. Something that would be more complete, and more up-to-date than anything we had seen before.  In order to ensure our independence, and get as much relevant information on a page as possible, it is a subscription service that does not accept advertising or sponsored links. We do not seek to make any commission by selling you tickets for events or booking hotels – we always give you the direct links to do this yourself.  It is kept totally up to date (indeed, we have made significant changes to several sections during the months taken to develop it) with the latest news about new places opening, and old places closing.

We used the power of a web-based system to offer services that hard copy travel guides cannot – including most importantly a tool to plan your time and visit programme taking into account travel distances and opening times of major attractions as well as the option for you to ask us to help you with your visit plan with our exclusive option 'Let Us Do It For You'. When you realise how much there is to do and how big London is, you will see just how imporant this is.
